Being proud locals, we spruik to anyone who will listen about this oddly named place called Anakie. And while songs have been sung in our honour (perhaps a long stretch), the name is believed to be derived from 'Anakie Youang', an Aboriginal term meaning little hill or twin hills, which are the prominent hills that can be seen when approaching from Geelong.
Anakie is a rural village set in a valley on the edge of national parks. We are ideally located an easy one hour drive from Melbourne, a little less from Ballarat and Daylesford, and just 30 minutes from Geelong.
